Interested in Contributing to an Online Mission Mag?

This past couple of weeks I’ve been learning about self-hosting WordPress, and at last I have managed to get my own self-hosted sites.  Previously I have been blogging here on wordpress.com.

I was looking to making this site an online magazine, but there were limitations on what I could post.  Wordpress.com doesn’t allow for advertising or selling on their sites.  Blogs here are okay for personal and ministry use, but not for business.  So they are limited in how you can raise funds.

But now, praise God, I am able to do all that.  The sky is the limit!!!!

I have two self-hosted blogs so far.  One I am using to share downloads like cards, images, gospel tracts, music, videos, etc.  Go to www.seeds2sow.org.

The other is at www.seeds2sowonline.org.  If you go there you will notice that it is empty at the moment.  I’ve been waiting and praying about how best to use it.  And this is what I want to suggest:

I’d like to make this a community online magazine with many contributors.  On this site you will be able to add a post, e.g., a devotional message, a story, a testimony, a project, photos, podcasts, videos, information, humor…. (anything that you would find in a normal magazine).  So I invite you to come and join me.

Maybe you could commit to writing an article once or twice a week.  Or you can just add something as often as you like.

But the BONUS for you is that you will be able to add a button to receive donations.  One of those could be a Flattr button.  You can also add buttons from Moneybookers and Paypal (or any other payment gateway).  I would suggest Moneybookers for most, as Paypal merchant facilities aren’t available in some countries.

Also, the more activity that happens on the site, the more Google likes it and is more likely to get on front page of Google searches.  And if you have your own personal site or blog, you can add links to it and get more traffic to your site.

So, let me know if you would like to be included and I will add you as a contributor, and we can get going.

And of course, your prayers would be appreciated for the venture.

God bless!!!!

The Way Out Is Up (by Derek Prince)

I received this message in an email today:

Here is a word for you from the Word

Psalm 50:14-15

Sacrifice thank offerings to God, fulfill your vows to the Most High, and call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor Me. NIV

There’s the divine way out of trouble. You’re in the midst of trouble, pressures are against you, and you don’t see any way out. But there is a way up, a way to God: “Sacrifice thank offerings.” That sounds senseless, doesn’t it?

In the midst of all the pressures and the trouble, stop worrying and start thanking God. Lift your voice in thanksgiving to God. Offer Him an offering of thanksgiving. Something that costs you something, something that goes against the grain, but it’s a sacrifice acceptable to God. And God says, “When you offer Me that sacrifice of your thankfulness in the midst of all the trouble, then I’ll intervene on your behalf. I will deliver you and you will honor Me.” God is waiting to deliver, but the way that He wants us to prepare for His deliverance is to offer Him thank offerings right in the midst of the trouble.

In the last verse of the same psalm He says this, “He who sacrifices thank offerings honors Me and he prepares the way so that I may show him the salvation of God.” You see, when you offer God thanksgiving in the midst of trouble, that’s the purest expression of faith that you can make. And when you offer Him that thanksgiving you prepare the way in your life, in your heart, that God may show you His salvation, that God may come to your rescue.

Designing Sustainable Communities (via Earthbag Building Blog)

In addition to my house design work (which is really taking off, by the way), I’ve had several requests to design sustainable communities. So far these large projects haven’t fully materialized, but the opportunities I’ve been presented with have given me a chance to think through some possibilities. The ideas outlined below are somewhat unconventional, but I think they’re useful concepts worth considering. – The best, most vibrant and successful … Read More

Southern Tribulation (via Internet Elias’s Blog)

My friend writes these heartening words regarding this tragedy in Southern USA:

“As people, we are never better than when we are serving others. Amidst the wood, stubble, and hay that has been destroyed, we see man’s spirit rise to new heights. We know, see, and experience man as God intends him to be…loving neighbor as self. It is only in weakness where strength is found. It is only in need where giving is glorified. And among so many things one cannot know, I know that it is in death where Life is found. God’s very nature brings restoration, regeneration, and renewal. Like a tree, we have been hewn down. But the roots remain and we will spring forth new life from what has been destroyed. We will come forth humbled, grateful, ….a stronger people…a wiser people. As I said earlier, the Alabama landscape is forever changed….and the hearts of her people are bettered for the experience.”

Southern Tribulation  John 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.                                                                                                             The deadly tornado outbreak ripped through my Alabama and other southern states on April 27th leaving unbelievable destruction. Earthbag Stone Dome (via Earthbag Building Blog)

Earthbag Stone Dome (via Earthbag Building Blog)

Yesterday’s video about How the Pyramids Were Built shows how loose limestone can be turned to stone. This method seems easier and simpler than using MICP, don’t you think? This seems like a good time to experiment with geopolymer cast stone to make the first ever earthbag stone dome. The mountain range near our home is predominantly limestone, so the main material is probably readily at hand (although I’ve never seen loose limestone for sale). I … Read More

Where Does Wisdom Come From?

We all know how silver seams the rocks. We’ve seen the stuff from which gold is refined. We’re aware of how iron is dug out of the ground and copper is smelted from rock.

Miners penetrate the earth’s darkness, searching the roots of the mountains for ore, digging away in the suffocating darkness.  Far from civilization, far from the traffic, they cut a shaft, and are lowered into it by ropes.

Earth’s surface is a field for grain, but its depths are a forge firing sapphires from stones and chiseling gold from rocks.  Vultures are blind to its riches. Hawks never lay eyes on it.  Wild animals are oblivious to it.  Lions don’t know it’s there.

Miners hammer away at the rock.  They uproot the mountains.  They tunnel through the rock and find all kinds of beautiful gems.  They discover the origins of rivers, and bring earth’s secrets to light.

But where, oh where, will they find Wisdom?  Where does Insight hide?

Mortals don’t have a clue, haven’t the slightest idea where to look.  Earth’s depths say, ‘It’s not here!’  Ocean deeps echo, ‘Never heard of it.’

It can’t be bought with the finest gold.  No amount of silver can get it.  Even famous Ophir gold can’t buy it.  Not even diamonds and sapphires!  Neither gold nor emeralds are comparable.  Extravagant jewelry can’t touch it.  Pearl necklaces and ruby bracelets—why bother?

None of this is even a down payment on Wisdom!  Pile gold and African diamonds as high as you will.  They can’t hold a candle to Wisdom.

So where does Wisdom come from? And where does Insight live?

It can’t be found by looking, no matter how deep you dig, no matter how high you fly.  If you search through the graveyard and question the dead, they say, ‘We’ve only heard rumors of it.’

God alone knows the way to Wisdom. He knows the exact place to find it.  He knows where everything is on earth.  He sees everything under heaven.

After He commanded the winds to blow and measured out the waters, arranged for the rain and set off explosions of thunder and lightning, He focused on Wisdom, made sure it was all set and tested and ready.

Then He addressed the human race:

‘Here it is!  Fear-of-the-Lord—that’s Wisdom, and Insight means shunning evil.’

How the Pyramids Were Built (via Earthbag Building Blog)

Quite amazing…. and we thought we were smart….

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=znQk_yBHre4&feature=related Alternate title: How to Build an Earthbag House That Will Last as Long as the Pyramids. I can’t say for sure that the pyramids were built this way, but this video describes a reasonable theory of how the blocks of the pyramids were made with natural materials from the Giza Plateau – limestone, kaolin clay, sodium carbonate, lime and water. According to the video, the mixture consists … Read More
